Allie Lewenilovo
Hello Everyone!
I am a multi-subject tutor located in the Danville/San Ramon area specializing in Math, Exam Prep, and general Homework Help.
My Philosophy
I believe that every student learns differently. For some, many repetitions are required before the skill is mastered. For others, understanding is all that is needed. Some students understand concepts immediately, and some need some time to process. Some students learn from explanation, and some learn by doing. I love getting to know my students well enough that I can ascertain what works best for them, what motivates them, and what will help them the most. I strive to help students learn concepts for good, not just for the assignment or test. With that comes addressing the underlying issues, making sure a student understands the basics solidly before they can understand advanced material.
My Background
After graduating from The College Preparatory School in Oakland, I attended Wellesley College and MIT, though I have found my passion in working with students, especially those who are struggling. For the past few years, I have worked with many different types of students. I started at a Middle School where I created programs in Math, Science, Writing, History, Engineering and French for high risk students. After that, I spent some time tutoring at a community tutoring program in an upscale neighborhood. For the past few years, I have worked for a major nationwide tutoring center as Assistant Director of Education as well as a Lead Tutor. In this capacity, I worked with parents, teachers, counselors, and students to establish a plan to best help the student.
